Disability: Be Specific About Your Job
When filling out your application or preparing evidence, don't just focus on your job title. Focus on what that job required physically and mentally.
❌ Don't just say:
"I worked in construction"
✅ Say this:
"My job required lifting over 50 pounds daily, standing for more than eight hours, constantly climbing stairs, and using heavy tools."
Social Security evaluates:
- • Your past work
- • The specific tasks you performed
- • How your condition limits you from doing them
Example:
"Due to my back condition, I can no longer lift weight, stand for long periods, or bend over, which prevents me from performing the essential functions of my job."
⚠️ Common mistake:
Saying "I can't work" without explaining why.
🔑 The more specific you are about your limitations and job demands, the stronger your case will be.
